Goal: Students will affirm their greatness in rhythmic chant.

Suggested Execution:

Part 1 (A):

Teacher will lead class in the following call and response chant in which students will echo the Teacher. This can be accompanied by a steady pulse or pattern on a drum or a backing track of your choosing.

Part 2 (B):

Teacher will call on individual Students to name something about themselves that is great, which will the class with then affirm. This part will require more explanation/demonstration. A good prompt at the beginning of the activity would be to have each student to one thing about them that is great and hold it in their mind during the chant.

Teacher Talk: This section will probably take some practice to get up and running.

“I Have…” can serve as a great one-off activity or as a great “hello song” to start each day of class.  Aside from being fun, it has the added benefit of pushing your students to think of something great about themselves every time they come to class.
